The Church Wardens and Vestry
of
Christ Church Parish, Stevensville, Kent Island, Maryland
charge them to locate a Priest-in-Charge for the Parish, undertaking that work with these guidelines:
- In March 2024, our parishioners completed the Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT) to help leaders gauge the strength, vitality, and trends in our church as they search for our new Rector. Some of the survey can be found here.
- A Parish profile document can be found here.
- Receive names, conduct appropriate investigations and interviews, and vet candidates.
-
The Church Wardens and Vestry expect that candidates be regularly ordained or eligible for ordination. Candidates should be Episcopal or a confirmed member of those denominations in full communion with the Episcopal Church. Special preference will be shown to persons who have graduated from a seminary of the Episcopal Church.
Regularly ordained individuals will be considered for Priest in Charge or Rector depending on years of experience in a similar position and congregation.
New seminary graduate candidates must be open to the position of Curate under the Mentorship of the Interim Rector for a period of 6-12 months, following which the Curate will be converted to Priest in Charge or Rector as the situation dictates.
- In all matters, usual and customary search procedures will be employed following current best practices; confidentiality and discretion are expected to insure the well-being of all concerned. The Search Committee will remain in regular contact with the search consultant, The Rev’d Frank Crumbaugh, and The Canon to the Ordinary of Easton, Mr. John Dragone.
- Costs for the Search will be borne by the Parish, and expenditures will be reported monthly to The Church Wardens and Vestry of Christ Church Parish.
Given at Stevensville, Kent Island, Maryland, this eighteenth day of December in the Year of our Lord two thousand twenty-three.
